At last, Alfa Romeo’s funky MiTo can now fight fairly in the European compact segment – finally there’s an automatic version.

And – in the European way – it’s not an average auto, no folks, Alfa has fitted a twin-clutch six-speed to the MiTo with a sequential manual mode. Combined with auto start/stop, fuel consumption is down by 10 per cent compared to a regular automatic transmission – rated at 5.5l/100kms (combined cycle).

In fact the automatic MiTo (MiTo) TCT runs a 99kw/190Nm version of Alfa’s 1.4-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder engine (114kW/230Nm for entry-level MiTo and 125kW/250Nm for range-topping MiTo QV).

You can opt for the manual option in two grades – entry-level MiTo TCT or MiTo TCT Sport (equipped like the MiTo QV).

“With MiTo TCT and its two trim and equipment levels we have the perfect blend of performance, economy and ease of use wrapped up in a design that is classic Alfa Romeo – strong, stylish and unmistakable – and what would be expected of a company celebrating 100 years of performance motoring,” explained Alfa Romeo Australia General Manager, Andrei Zaitzev.

The full range is:

Alfa Romeo MiTo $29,990
Alfa Romeo MiTo TCT $31,990
Alfa Romeo MiTo QV $34,990
Alfa Romeo TCT Sport $34,990
